Our Story
Outbound Exports was founded in 2021 with a bold vision: to transform Kenya’s agricultural potential into a sustainable, globally competitive export business. Born out of friendship and a shared passion for agribusiness, our story began while we — Nahashon (CEO) and Moses (COO) — were still in university. Having grown up in farming families and sharing a deep connection to agriculture, we decided to turn our background into a business opportunity.
Our journey started with a leased farm near Machakos Junction, where we focused on fast-growing, high-demand crops like coriander and red pepper. The early success of these ventures fueled our ambition and enabled us to invest in a water system and build our first greenhouse.
Through continuous research and field experience, we discovered a growing global demand for fresh, aromatic herbs. We responded by expanding into perennial herbs such as basil, sage, chives, rosemary, tarragon, and parsley — all cultivated with expert agronomic guidance and a focus on quality. This move positioned us to supply not just local buyers, but international markets across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
Today, Outbound Exports operates on a 15-hectare farm, with expansion plans underway to reach 30 hectares by the end of the year. Our infrastructure includes 15 greenhouses, which we aim to double in the coming months. Beyond production, we’re deeply committed to community empowerment: 90% of our employees are youth, and 70% are women, aligning with our mission to create meaningful, local employment. We also support circular farming by sourcing organic manure from nearby livestock farmers, ensuring our operations are sustainable and community-integrated.
At Outbound Exports, we’re more than just herb growers — we’re building a future where Kenyan agriculture thrives on innovation, inclusion, and impact.
